Valentin sets Cane official visit
Philadelphia (Pa.) Imhotep Institute Charter School OL Johncarlo Valentin committed to Oklahoma last Thursday.
And that same day he set up a Miami visit for the weekend before signing day.
"I talked to Miami coaches after I committed - Stacy Searels," Valentin said. "He was okay with it, said congratulations, told me I'm a great kid and they would love to have me on their team."
Valentin has already taken visits to Oklahoma and Arizona State.
He says he has a "great" relationship with Searels.
"He's recruited me since he was at Virginia Tech," Valentin said.
What has to happen for Miami to catch up to Oklahoma?
"Anything is possible, but I committed for a reason," Valentin said.
He says of UM's program that "I know a lot - I grew up a fan of the University of Miami."
He's friendly with former Cane Justin Renfrow.
"He's from around here, told me it's great to be a Cane, about the history of the University," Valentin said.
CaneSport's Take: Flipping Valentin will not be an easy task. Great job by Coach Searels getting him to visit. That always gives the Canes a fighting chance because of the quality of the visit experience.
